How to Volunteer with Agua Dulce

Weekend Volunteer days

Each month we host a weekend volunteer day — these are open to anyone over the age of 16 who would like to come out and lend a hand on our upstart urban farm!

Most weeks we begin with a tour of the farm and then break up into teams to tackle several projects that we need many helping hands to accomplish. We always post about these days on our Facebook page, so please check back regularly and RSVP to our event on Facebook to let us know your are coming!

Committed Volunteer Program

The Committed volunteer program is designed for folks who want to learn hands-on about sustainable agriculture and aquaponic growing techniques. We ask volunteers to commit to working one 3-hour shift a week through a three month season. We offer a fresh, seasonal veggie box in exchange for each shift worked.

Cohort 2, Summer '17:

We are currently in the midst of our second season with our committed volunteer program! The Summer season will be from May 31st- August 18th. Committed Volunteers work one 3 hour shift a week through the season. Tasks include (but not limited to): planting, harvesting, weeding, as well as light construction and aquaponics system maintenance. Shift options are Wednesday from 8am-11am, or Friday from 8am-11am.

In exchange, volunteers receive:

- A vegetable box at every volunteer shift

- The opportunity to learn about sustainable agriculture and aquaponic growing methods

- A meaningful volunteer experience and engagement with the local farming community

We are looking for:

Reliable and motivated volunteers with a sincere interest in learning about sustainable agriculture and aquaponic growing methods. Volunteers must have the ability to work outside in varied conditions and lift at least 30lbs. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are crucial. Previous farm experience is not needed-- we will train you on everything you need to know.
